We had a reservation from 5/28/22-6/1/22 The hotel and our room appeared clean upon checking in When we returned back to our room after exploring some of Anchorage, we noticed that the bed was filthy

The sheets were covered in hair and dirt I informed the front desk about this in person and they moved us to another room on the same floor After checking the bed, we noticed that the sheets on the bed were blood stained We then proceeded back to the front desk and demanded that they cancel our reservation and not charge us for their unclean rooms They acted like they could not assist us and called their assistant general manager to intervene After waiting for more than 45 minutes, they said we were free to leave the property and that the issue would be resolved tomorrow I called Choice Hotels Customer Service multiple times and they could not assist me because the hotel had not checked us out yet despite that request and the request to cancel our reservation My girlfriend and I booked a new reservation with a Marriott property nearby and never once received an apology or phone call from the assistant manager or general manager despite the pending charge eventually falling off This hotel is outdated, old and the associates are not professional Do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel that cares about cleanliness and their customers like nearby Springhill Suites

This is where you want to stay if flying into or out of Anchorage We got into Anchorage on a red eye flight(2:00 am) Shuttle picked us up promptly at the airport

Check in was friendly and easy Plenty of local Restaurants deliver to hotel Room was clean, staff extremely friendly and helpful Our shuttle back to the airport was also great!

Peter Valenti

Room was adequate Staff led by Jerri Anderson is abysmal I’ve stay in hotels frequently and this location is being run poorly

It’s a bad reflection on Choice hotels Corporate and certainly the ownership (franchisee) The breakfast was fine and the staff in the dining room did a good job Front desk, including Ms Andersen needs a review by ownership and most likely replacement of many employees including Ms Anderson The attitude projected to clients, and running a company, starts from the top down Upon departure Ms Anderson berated a customer and his wife, in front of me and told them they weren’t welcome to return Additionally, as the three of us set in the shuttle she (Ms Anderson) told him that they could step out and take a cab if they wish The customer was solely having a difficulty understanding why the shuttle wasn’t available at 8:15 as advertised The customer was correct for asking the question I was out front in the shuttle at 8:15, but Jerri took it upon herself and just yelled at him This manager showed very poor customer skills And I will not return to this location until she is replaced There are many other options in Anchorage

Great place to stay but I would stay the downside to our stay is no one had any respect to keep their voices down in the late and early hours The rooms are not very sound proof from the outside nor the inside Everything else was great though from the staff to the breakfast

Rooms were clean and comfortable but overall the stay was not worth what I was paying a night for $4 to do laundry, hot tub was out of commission, gym is lousy, the complimentary breakfast was less than decent Some of the staff was rude when asked for anything

The GM with the blonde hair was very kind however! When I checked into the room all provided shower toiletries were empty and I was given replacements and told to replace them myself Overall not a bad place to stay, however I pay to stay at a hotel to have a restful experience and during my stay here I didn’t feel much relaxation or relief Needs improvement for future guest

jari herrmann

Rooms are dirty Walls in the bathroom have dirt streaks, dust on headboard, there was stains on my sheets Also for the rooms they have those little coffee packets that are for a 2-4 cup coffee maker and they had a full-size coffee maker

Breakfast was 20 minutes late opening up The one good thing about my stay was the front desk clerks were extremely nice and welcoming

Kevin Kester

Went wrong from day 1 of 4 Asked for a roll away bed and staff was hesitant to bring it to me, when they did bring it to me the guy just met at the door and said “here” Then I had to go ask for linens for the bed, because all he brought was a dirty, broken down mattress

Day 2 I noticed a leak under the kitchen sink, called the front desk and told them about it They said they would take care of it and when I came to the room the floor was full of water, when I called them back they tried to take care of it right away and offered me a different room I told them I had to leave to go somewhere and they said my new room would be ready when I returned When I returned they gave me the same room and said its fixed The leak was fixed, but the carpet was all wet Then the bathroom toilet stopped flushing The room had a constant weird smell, there was trash left from a previous guest All in all the worst marriott I stayed at

Rented a one of the cabins first It was great and would be a wonderful long stay Full size fridge, gas stove, nice tea sets, comfortable bed and futon

The rooms are everything you need if you’re passing through for a night, hot shower and comfortable bed Outstanding country bar feel with great service and good food As a vegetarian, I had the black bean burger, I think it came with thousand island so if you don’t do eggs ask about that, it was a satisfying meal The salmon burgers smelled really good, and I don’t typically like the smell of most meat

Robert Roth

Honestly, don’t expect much It’s a little room above a bar/restaurant You won’t have a TV or a big shower, but it’s a place to rest, and it’s more affordable than other hotels in Alaska

What really made the experience were the incredible staff at the bar They are so nice, so fun, and make a mean burger Just stay here, it’s a good time

Close to the airport – has a shuttle but I didn’t need to use it so can’t testify to service Room was clean Adjacent to a Wendy’s

Would love it if they did the “breakfast to go” bags for the early flights – breakfast doesn’t start till 6am Does have a $100 incidental charge that will be applied to your credit card I arrived early and they were able to accomodate with an early check-in Very friendly staff

Stacey Jurecka

I was informed my reservation was cancelled when I arrived at the hotel even though I booked it 4 months in advance They claimed my card wouldn’t clear, but I could have easily resolved that at check inReceived no call or email notifying me

No voicemail was left either Front desk staff tried to aggressively blame me at check in and did not offer to help me find new accommodations for my familyI’ve never had this happen at any other holiday inn express and I’ve stayed at many over the years Avoid!

Tom Sasso

Raven at the front desk has been nothing short of an absolute superstar! She is kind, helpful, understanding Raven has made the check in and check out process simple My only complaint was an old male employee, potential manager, he was very rude to staff and patrons of the hotel

I felt he was super demeaning to his staff The hotel was clean, the room was clean

I’m a local and we were looking for a place downtown for brunch Forgot how busy downtown gets during the summer Stopped at the Captain Cook just to see and we got a seat right away

I have stayed in the Captain Cook Hotel a couple of times in the Winter and it’s nice and the staff is very friendly But for our brunch that day the Salmon omelet was AMAZING! and I think the coffee was complimentary Nice and quiet Very enjoyable! A good place to go for breakfast and lunch

Q L

Love it! It’s very classic hotel and the best restaurant in town (Crow’s nest) you must make a reservation in advance for better experience We booked junior suite

Not bad at all We love the big widows and it can be opened few inches as well Allowed us to get some fresh air in winter Room has big heating walls Very comfortable

Todd Marcucci

Location is great, right next to the Anchorage Trolley Tour and lots of dining options Staff is excellent and the room and hotel were exceptionally clean The rooms are

a bot dated May be in keeping with the theme, but the entire hotel a d rooms are quite dark If it were not for the modern conveniences and cleanliness it would seem to have been styled in the 70s and maintained that way The stay was spread and will consider it again

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and five days I didn’t have high hopes about our reservation here prior to our stay because I had called to inquire regarding toiletries provided by the hotel (which are face bar, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion by the way) and the receptionist answered the phone laughing and barely making sense When I asked her what kind of toiletries their hotel offered she asked me what I meant because they offer the usual items

When we arrived, the receptionist who checked us in was really agitated, unprofessional, and pretty aggressive with us But the room made up for these two instances Walking into our room the housekeeper had done a fantastic job The room did not smell like smoke or any other foul smell: our room actually smelled clean and well The bathroom was very clean, the counters too, however, the bedding had human hair on it and thankfully we took our own bedding because this is an issue we encounter often It’s nearly impossible to find a hotel that has clean, free of human hair, unstained bedding With regards to location, this hotel is within two miles from Anchorage Airport and very close from downtown Anchorage! We stayed here in the beginning of April and the nights were not freezing cold, our room was warm and the entire hotel was kept at a very warm, pleasant temperature! There was one strange situation in which one receptionist named Chi didn’t want to replace our bedding on the third night after we accidentally spilled half a water bottle on our comforter He said housekeeping was not working at the moment but based on all of my stays at different hotels, the front desk has access to spare bedding and towels, this is not something selectively available to the housekeeping staff

Jeff Pepper

Nice clean rooms! Very nice restaurant/bar! I had a room with a great view I travel in & out of Alaska every month and stay at the lakefront when passing through Never had an issue

They pick you up at the airport & drop you off no charge, No hassle! FYI if you join there rewards club you get a discount Super convenient online check-in just grab and go

Ruth Spittler

I stayed at Lakefront two years ago and was impressed with how nice it was so we reserved a room for yesterday only to find that it has been run down quite a bit I understand the pandemic hurt everyone but I’m talking about gnarly carpet and dirty coffee stained walls

things that don’t need to be replaced but cleaned It’s a very convenient location, the staff are attentive and I appreciate the hotel shuttle service but next trip will find me looking for different accommodations

I have stayed at almost every hotel in anchorage and this one is so far one of the better places I have stayed, now I did stay in the king suite which might be why but the place is inviting when you walk in and the rooms are clean and do not smell like most rooms The beds are still old style coil but feel newer then most as far as bouncing and blow your back out It was pretty quite if you stay on the side away from the highway because you can hear all the traffic on the highway side and it is pretty loud

The room had nice climate control that other hotels lacked in I would comfortably stay here again

S

Clean, neat, nice, large Very good two layers curtains for daylight summer Got a kitchen too

Free coffee, tea, fruit downstairs in the lobby Free breakfast from 7:00 Gym and pool if you have spare time I was completely exhausted from all the trips Otherwise I would enjoy more facilities in the building Close to the airport If you have a car, this is definitely a great place to stay Stay away from downtown hotels Noisy as hell at night

T H

Great location to/from the airport Check-in was fine, Diamond honors status wasn’t acknowledgedThe room was spacious, well equipped and everything in working condition

Breakfast was hit and miss, there was always something that needed to be replenished and seemed like it wasn’t Kind of like, we have 10 bagels today and when they are gone that’s it

The hotel room itself was okay In between our two king size beds were what looked like a blood stain on the carpet which made the other residents I was with and I uncomfortable The view outside the windows themselves were of the backs of buildings so nothing extraordinary at all

The restaurant food was expensive and not worth it I ordered a burger and the bun was completely soaked with grease before it even arrived at the table We ordered ranch with our appetizer of chicken wings and it was literally cheap packeted ranch which for a restaurant that was depicted as, as fancy, the quality in amenities was overestimated for what they charged The free breakfast in the morning was a lot better, but that may only be because it was just packagedThe pool didn’t have duty life guards or safety precautions There was a horrible draft downstairs and only got worse with the nightOverall, the experience itself at the hotel was overestimated by the reviews and I would not recommend it to other people

Megan Suder

Hands down the best service my family and I have received while traveling and staying at a hotel We were greated with a smile everytime we walked in and the employees went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of Seriously, everyone was so kind! The hotel is super clean, and our room was perfect! The kids had a blast playing in the pool and picking out their breakfasts at the breakfast bar each morning

Thank you Hyatt Place & staff! You all are phenomenal! ❤

JEFFREY M WAGNER

The room we had was a king bed and is kind of basic, but comfortable There is a breakfast, but it also is somewhat basic (scrambled eggs, potatoes, meat, cereals and drinks) The pool/hottub is a super highlight of the hotel

We spoke with the assist pool tech and we were informed that testing is done every two hours with stringent testing results required and daily flush & fill of the hottub

An excellent choice for accommodations in Anchorage Pamela is very welcoming and accommodating, and is committee to offering guests a superbly clean environment The location is excellent for downtown and train access

The price is excellent and the best value I found compared to many hotels in Alaska I encourage everyone to give this gem a try!

Brian Thielke

I would definitely stay at Anchorage Downtown Guest Rooms again Great location to catch the train and for exploring downtownCleanliness: The room was spotless upon arrival with fresh sheets and ample clean towels

The host did a good job at airing out the room and felt very safe in regards to covid concernsComfort: The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a little flat The towels were were fine The shower water pressure was insane, maybe a little too goodlol It can get a little cold at night, so ask for an extra blanket to stay warm!Noise: The front door has a tendency to slam shut when others go in and out But there is little street noise and the inside of the building is quietStaff: Very friendly host who is willing to go out of her way to make you feel comfortable She owns the building and cares about her property and guest experiencesLocation: Close to the train station, less than a 5 minute walk away Also, one block away from 49th State Brewery You may be able to get a parking spot in the driveway if there is room, otherwise there is free overnight street parking on the side streetValue: Good value for the moneyAmenities: Room includes a fridge, coffee maker, hot water maker, tv, table & chairs, and free Wi-Fi Wi-Fi seemed to be average in speed compared to the rest of Anchorage

Jen Schiller

Pam is the best host, and her BnB is clean and inviting She picked me up from the airport and brought me to my final destination the next morning She also gave me a little tour of anchorage and showed me some great places to grab a bite

Pam MAKES the BnB–I wish I did more business in Alaska because I would come back to her in a heartbeatThe room has a full coffee bar, free water/fridge, and TWO OPTIONS of beds–memory foam for those who like softer beds, and a harder mattress for those who do not Conveniently located in walking distance from the major downtown area, as well

Great location that you can walk to almost everything but is in the heart of downtown Amazing water views from high floors So request one

Service was top notch and rooms have new furniture update with super comfy beds Only down side is no in room safe for usBonvoy members breakfast is full English breakfast and then some on the top floor with great views from 6am to 10am Afternoon snacks (they charge for alcohol) good too from 5pm to 10pm

Michelle Puszynski

Rooms were nice- comfortable bed, roomy shower But the staff was incompetent and honestly rude I had Called to extend a night 30 min prior to my arrival and the woman in guest services was rude

She did tell me they had room to extend and just to come to the front desk and request, “wouldn’t be an issue” I get There and want to extend and am told by the man quite rudely that there was no availability- incompetent and rude staff makes me rate this quite low The staff and customer support makes the place- be better

Room and hotel itself are like any other 3-star hotel Nothing special that makes this place a “four star hotel”The breakfast needs some serious attention

They call it a “breakfast buffet” and charge you $20 per person We went three days straight and each day was the same horrible experience:1) no clean tables to sit at; all full of dirty dishes2) no clean silverware or plates to use (probably because it’s all sitting on the tables)3) the trays of food empty and not getting replenished… so you stand around 10/15+ waiting for scrambled eggs or a fork4) only two servers, and only they can get you a drink, so we waited over 30 minutes to get a cup of coffeeWill not be back

Angela Ugalino

honestly one of the better hotel experiences I’ve had The staff working the breakfast buffet in the morning, were particularly kind, helpful, and welcoming, and got my day off to a great start The christmas decorations were very pretty and the straightforward thermostat in the room was much appreciated

They offer breakfast vouchers and that’s a big plus Thank you for a really pleasant stay!

Bathrooms are a little smaller than expected but still usable and get the job done Fell asleep quite quickly on the giant pillow of a bed Views were phenomenal Very much appreciated the stay

Very happy to have stayed at this hotel while in Anchorage Clean, great blackout curtains to keep the light out, decent breakfast bar, very clean, and great personal service from all of the employeesThe only small bones I had to pick, that kept this from being a 5-star, was when no one came up to bring me my extra coffee creamer and sugars I had asked for

I had to go down and get it myself after having waited over 30 minutes Perhaps that was a result of just being short on employees…which seems to be everywhere these “post” pandemic days And secondly, the bathroom seemed very small, only able to fit one person at a timeOverall- very content Thank you Sheraton

I usually have good stays here but this time not so much My room’s fire alarm beeped every hour starting at 2am that happens i guess

the coffee and breakfast in the 11th floor club was not ready at 6:30 or even 6:45 when we left to get breakfast downstairs the roof in the lobby is leaking in multiple places Room was decent but for the alarm all this for over $500 a night seems a bit much folks working there are very nice
