2 things I didn’t like The lack of a solid shut of our restroom door and the breakfast However, the location is great, Ashley at the front desk was helpful, the outside patio was a great place to host our group of families and the beds were about the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve slept in for as long as I can remember

We will return

This hotel is pretty much what I expect from a Holiday Inn – not the most upscale hotel, but clean and serviceable for my weekend stayI didn’t have the opportunity to take advantage of the amenities while here, but the rooms were comfortable enough and reasonably well keptThe hotel has good access to the freeway, and is centrally located to a lot of the Des Moines suburbs

If you’re looking for an economical stay, this is a solid option

Matt Plumley

Staff was friendly but that was about it for this location The pool was full of green algae in the bottom of it and the ceiling of pool is failing apart The room was ok but not very clean

A guest puked in the pool the night prior and no one closed it off so people were swimming in it Every morning the pool area was not cleaned or picked up Swim diapers were on the ground and no towels were available Nice and big hotel but needs a lot of TLC to get it back up to standards

I would give them a 5-star rating but they are not checking all the boxes right now It seems to be a product of coming out of the COVID-19 pandemicThere is a VERY limited dinner menu right now at the bistro – burger, chicken fingers or a salad

Not exactly dinner and drinks Breakfast was also limited but not as much Missing a lot of items they normally would haveOverall though, staff that was there 3 years ago when I was last there is still there The staff is very friendly and helpful Definitely their star quality there Rooms are clean I even did a dust check and was surprised to find no dust! Good job!The place isn’t perfect but it seems it is managed well and the people working there care about their job and people they come in contact to Looking forward to staying at the conference again there next yearand hopefully fully operational!

We had our daughter’s wedding at this venue Ann the event planner is amazing! She covers every detail We truly just enjoyed the day and they took care of everything

The food and bar manager was great She communicated with us throughout the night The chef makes amazing food We had prime rib and made to perfection They served our 350 guest quickly It was top notch food and service We had a 5 star wedding thanks to courtyard marriott in Ankeny Thank you

BIRDM4N

One of the worst Courtyard Marriott’s I’ve stayed at The hotel/rooms are very worn…dingy carpet, mold in the showers, and uncomfortable beds It was a super hot week and the air conditioners are on an eco mode

I would get my room to a fairly comfortable temperature, leave for the day and when I got back in the evening it was a sauna We just checked out after a 4 night stay due to a faulty fire alarm that went off at 5 in morning The only bright spot is the friendly front desk staff

Stayed for an 11-day work trip with a team of coworkers Bed is super comfortable and shower is perfect Neutrogena toiletries are good quality

Housekeeping comes every couple of days to refresh towels and make the bed Having a kitchen and full-size fridge/freezer was perfect Breakfast is decent, really liked the scrambled eggs with Swiss cheese & chives Outside patio with the fire pit is really nice at night and the hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day Located near plenty of restaurants and shops, close to the highway but not SO close that there’s too much noise Staff is friendly Definitely recommend

Update: And even worse response by the owner The fact that they’re just going to use it as a learning experience is not adequate for someone who is a memberI already stated I would not be using their hotel and they did nothing as a responseDoes not matter if you are a Hilton Gold member at this location

They don’t offer evening receptions (only Wednesday), I was not allowed a late check out, and they charged me $6 for my COMPLIMENTARY water Really left no reason for us to book here in our 10-20 trips to Ankeny each yearService & fulfilling loyalty are HUGE

Affordable, the room is quite big, you can bring pets, the staff is very friendly, the breakfast area is also good, the only thing I want to complain about is the curtains, the thin layer of the curtains is a white cloth, and the shading effect is not very big, thick That layer of curtains is just for decoration and distributed on both sides, it cannot be moved, it always feels brighter when sleeping at night

Bailey Thurman

I’ve been staying up here for work for the past few weeks Every person I have encountered here has been so kind In most cases, if a hotels dryer isn’t working it’s just tough luck

The ladies at the desk went above and beyond, drying my clothes in the back for me I have not had an unpleasant stay I truly appreciate all of you and if I ever have family/friends come to visit 10/10 will recommend!

Can I give negative stars? Checked in 7/3/2022, fourth time within the past twelve months The hotel is convenient, just off of the highway and allows dogs for a reasonable fee My dog is twelve and thus I always request a first floor room as he can no longer go up that many steps and is afraid of elevators

A request in my three previous stays that has always been gladly taken care of New front desk associate, not trained (and not her fault BTW), eventually got the first floor room, great Not so great, the room’s A/C was broken They offered a room on the 4th floor, told them why I could not do that, and frankly were rude about it It was late at that point, so switching hotels was not an option and I needed to get on the road early in the morning We stuck it out in the saunaThey also charged for parking They have never done that, when I asked the manager he said “we always charge for parking” no I said, look at my past stays, he says “we always charge for parking” Isn’t it nice when a business looks you in the eye and lies to you, and their lie is proved by simply looking at my past stays This ping pong match went on for a bit, I just gave up There was a July 4th firework celebration and street parking was not available So the manager gouged people staying at the property ClassyChecked out of the sauna and went on my way So, I fired off an email to Marriott corporate I received a response on 7/12/22 from Eric A, Marriott Bonvoy Case Resolution Specialist expressing regret for the stay issues I was offered 5,000 points to my account, which were posted This does little to be honest So, I wrote again, and Eric A reached out to the property again This is where it gets interestingSaturday, 7/30/22, I received a notice on my phone (Apple card and phone) that the hotel has charged me another $103 plus tax of $1236 At first I thought it was a credit, but nope, it was a charge I received a call (yes an actual phone call) from the property, a gentleman named Tony L (I don’t like using full names) and he assured me I was not reading this correctly and it was a credit I provided him a screenshot indicating that it was in fact a charge He said, “this is how our system works, I need to put in a phony charge then credit it back to you” This was on folio #48454 Yes, I am still awaiting the creditSo, I asked both Eric and Tony to please resolve this or I will dispute the charge As of today 8/4/2022, no responses have been received, so I was forced to dispute the charge, send screen shots of the folio, emails, etc to support my position I was appreciative of the effort to compensate me for the miserable stay, but if you say you’re going to do something, then do it, and do not lie to me when you concoct phony stories as to way you can’t, then go totally silent when I prove you wrongPLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY

Breakfast is free and tasted good, but only is offered from 7-9am due to short on staff Once the coffee is gone in the morning, there is no coffee for the rest of the day The pool was not open, closed for maintenance for over a month

Vanity light no longer working, called front desk and they said they did not have maintenance for the weekend Ants in the kitchen under the bar sitting area, also in the shower area No hair dryer Right next to the train tracks, early 5am trains, you can see the graffiti on the cars as they pass right outside the window General staining on the furniture, looks worn and shabby All corners in the shower area could be better caulked

Very Enjoyable visit! The service professionals at the desk were very friendly and helpful Every Sleep Inn personnel we encountered during our visit made sure that our stay was enjoyable When we had an issue where our stay needed to be extended with my mother joining us, the concierge was extremely helpful and even suggested a Suite rather than an additional room so that we could spend more quality time with family and be together during our stay

The hotel is clean and very nice, but the excellent and kind service we received on a consistent basis places Sleep Inn on a whole new level We will definitely be back!

Booked the king suite that said it would have a king bed, a pull out sofa bed, as well as either 2 twins or a bunkbed set It had a king bed, the pull out sofa, and a full size cot bed They had NO extra blankets

There was a thin quilt on the king bed and a fleece blanket from the 80s on the full size cot When we asked for blankets, they told us they were in the closet where we had already looked (and found a set of sheets only) When we asked again, they walked us to the laundry room where laundry was piled in heaps waiting to be washed and explained that the laundry was behind At midnight Asked for towels which the provided but as a place to sleep, it’s unacceptable that there is not enough bedding for all the beds in a room that you are paying for Would not choose to stay here ever again, and I’d caution anyone considering staying here that they should plan to bring their own bedding The staff was relatively pleasant, but they looked at us like we were offending and putting them out when we asked for blankets

Amy Fraser

Great group of people! We were having some car trouble during a drive across country, and when I called to extend our stay by a day, Chris got us all taken care if When stopping at the front desk and being asked if things got taken care of, the desk clerk (Bobbie Jo, I think) gave us a # to call – they had us in by 2pm, fixed and out by 2:45 Enjoyed another night in the hotel thanks to their help

Breakfast

I’ll come back to that 🙂 Staff that greeted us about 10 pm was cheerful and helpful Room was clean, in good order, well supplied, comfortable A/C worked very well Keep in mind that this doesn’t pretend to be a luxury hotel, and they don’t charge luxury prices It was quite reasonably priced compared to other local options Morning staff was also cheerful and helpful Breakfast bar was amazing! Great selection of appealing food! I normally just go for a hard-cooked egg and waffle (in spite of the usual mess) The sausage patties were excellent! My husband liked the eggs, biscuits, and gravy, too Sweet rolls were fresh Breakfast bar was checked, cleaned and re-stocked regularly Even the waffle maker was kept clean! We liked it so much we stayed again on our return trip a couple nights later 🙂

We came down to visit Adventureland We stayed at Adventureland resort the year before and it was disgusting So, I wanted to find a better place near by and this was it

I’m so happy with the room It was clean and ready with the extra towels and bedding I requested for the kiddos The staff was super friendly and helpful! The breakfast was just what we needed to start our day right! The lady at the desk behind the food was so helpful I asked her if I could read the box the egg omelette came in Because my daughter has celiac disease and can’t have gluten She was more then accommodating and helpful! We will see you again in August for another trip down before school starts Thank you!

We just had a block of rooms at this location for our son’s wedding I can’t find enough positive things to say about our experience The manager and her staff were amazing! Our rooms were clean and all pre assigned to one half of the hotel, the lobby meeting room was a great gathering space for family and friends, the pool was clean and fun for family, and the service was outstanding

The manager came in over the weekend to ensure all was going well and to help with the large group I highly recommend this hotel!

I love this casino My only complaint is that they need staff to offer drinks Server rarely came around

We stayed for 3 days and had a good time We spent a lot of money We didn’t win any jackpots Leslie in the restaurant was a hoot She made us feel very welcome Didn’t get to see much of Tony this time He’s a very helpful employee too

Maria M Pflugradt

I love this hotel I am happy that the mask mandate was removed, although I would’ve worn a mask if I had to I appreciated the 21 and over rule for the casino

The slots were fun! I also loved the Cafe at the Meadows restaurant! The food was delicious and coffee was excellent! We went to AJ’s Steakhouse for my husband’s early birthday dinner Wonderful food

Robert Formaro

About 75% non smoking for anyone who doesn’t smoke this is a plus If you’re a smoker then not so much Do wish they had tables in a smoking are too

They seemed to have a good selection of high and low limit slots throughout smoking and non I’d be at 5 stars if they had an even balance of tables and slots for smoking and non-smoking All in all, a pretty fun time

Beds super comfy Great breakfast buffet and attendant wrote motivational messages on the bananasWe requested the top floor, away from the elevator and ice machine and were assured this was no problem

We even called twice to make sure this was still on the notes for our reservation We were astounded to find the room was the closest to the elevator! The staff was willing to move us but we ended up on a middle floorThere was a high school sports team on our floor and they threw their candy wrappers and sports drink containers in the hallway and stairwell Housekeeping never picked it up!The room keys are very frustrating Over and over we had to get them replaced It was a hassle because we parked on level 3 and often the key wouldn’t work so we couldn’t access our floor We could take the elevator down to the lobby—but couldn’t access it either!

Very clean rooms, pet-friendly and the staff is SO polite and caring They really do take that extra time to make it a pleasant experience here We actually reserved a room at another hotel in the area and the rooms were unbearably filthy, so we canceled that reservation and booked here and THANK GOD we did! It’s in a great area where nightlife and food are within walking distance

We are very comfortable and will be back if we are ever back in Des Moines

Needed a place to spend the night while crossing the country on a road trip And this was one of the only places we found that had a patio so we could open the windows to be safe because of covid And a nice view of the river too

But here are my complaints:1) Hard to find – the sign is more of a placard to the side of the door – no driveway where you can park while you check in – we circled the block twice before we found the place2) Hard to park – once you pull into the parking garage, it’s hard to know which way to go – it is shared w/ another hotel, so we were driving in circles in the garage too we finally parked on the third floor (incorrectly) and had to use the intercom to let us in and then walk through the upper hallways until we found an elevator to take us down to the lobby3) Hallway to our room was littered with trash and stains4) Ice machine broken5) Room was a bit worn out w/ frayed carpeting6) The walk back to the hotel from the downtown strip felt pretty sketchy at nightI assumed because this is owned by Hilton that there would be a higher level of cleanliness and proper signage All that big corporate money but I guess they don’t want to spend any of it at this location

We checked in Did not recieved the Elite member welcome gift Everything was great! The room, the shower had the best hair/body products, breakfast was great

As we were checking out, I just asked the guy, Jeff, for a water because we didn’t get one last night when checking in and he replied, “I don’t have to They are over there They’re only $150 Do what you want” It’s a shame to ruin an Elite members experience with poor customer service skills

Erika Olsen

One of our beds was broken and when I went down to talk to the front desk, the lady accused me and my children of breaking it and was very rude about it We hadn’t even been checked in an hour The said the maintenance man was worthless and they didn’t have any available rooms so a few cleaning ladies came and fixed it the best they could

The walls were filthy and the carpet and our microwave didn’t work either
