This was the worst hotel stay of my life It’s supposedly a 3-star hotel, but don’t believe the picturesThe rooms have an old, unclean feel with creepy 19th century portraits on the walls

My room in particular seemed okay at first glance, but then I noticed the ants–there were dozens traveling to and from a piece of chicken from a previous guest It was disgusting On top of this, the coffeemaker was not working I told the front desk staff (whose names I didn’t catch), requested a room cleaning, and a new coffee machine They took no action, but I’m a fairly patient person so I issued another request for help before I eventually got spray from staff member Chris and exterminated the ants myselfAfter seeing all of this, one sympathetic staff member, Miriam, told me the conditions of my stay were “unacceptable” and that she would talk to her manager The following morning before it was time to check out, I tried to take a shower I had broken a sweat from a work out and had to catch an early train so I needed to get going, but my shower wasn’t working Katherine, the staff member, said they had no engineer on hand to fix it I asked if I could use another shower because I really needed to go Katherine then sent me to a recently vacated, unclean room to shower in The room was a mess and there was a cash tip on the sheets for hotel cleaning staff This was extremely unsanitary, and I couldn’t believe they did this during a global pandemic Their excuse was that they were fully booked I did not shower and was gross for the rest of the day until I checked into another hotelAfter all of this horrible treatment, I was brought to tears Still, they gave me no compensation for my horrible stay Nothing came of Miriam’s talk with her manager or my requests for support through my booking agent Bookingcom OVERALL THOUGHTS: I would not book here unless you want to risk paying hundreds of dollars for an unclean, old room and unfeeling hotel staff

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights while visiting from the UK on businessI really enjoyed my stay! The room was clean and spacious The hotel was very peaceful and I was able to both work and relax when needed

The bed was comfortable and the staff were super friendlyThe shuttle bus was very handy and made travelling so much easier I would absolutely stay againThank you to all the staff I met

Really nice hotel Great place to come if you or your party is hard of hearing The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was friendly

The campus too was very pretty and there’s the added college public safety at the gate at all hours There’s also a capital bike share at the entrance and on the side entrance where you can access Union Market to get food

My stay could’ve been better and had high expectations for the hotel First, I was very happy that they were able to accommodate my last-minute change to upgrade my room from a standard to the Luxury Corner King room, which we absolutely loved the room We also were very appreciative that we were able to check-in at 2:00 PM instead of 3:00 PM as we had just traveled from Virginia Beach, VA by Amtrak and it was our first time in DC (this was a surprise birthday weekend trip)

The woman that helped us check-in was very very nice and the check-in process was less than 15 minutes, she gave us 2 complimentary drink tickets to use at the bar which also made us really love the experience so far What was not a pleasant experience and was very upsetting and disappointing was the following: 1 We went to go get ice on our floor, but the ice machine was out of order We called down to the front desk to see if there were other ice machines and were told no, that they are on other floors We were then told that someone would bring ice to our door shortlynobody ever came nor did we ever get a call about the ice We tried to use our key to get to a different floor to use their ice machine but it was not working We were also on a time crunch/schedule to go see some museums/monuments (as some require timed-entry tickets) so we never did call back about the ice We returned hours later and finally, our key let us go up to a different floor to retrieve ice I don’t think guests should have to be going to different floors to get ice 2 There was no ice bag in the ice bucket, which is a health and sanitation issue, as putting the ice inside a bucket without a bag can make it dirty and you can get sick from this Other hotels that are not “5-star” rated always have ice bags, so this was very disappointing We ended up using the disposable shower cap to place the ice in the bag 3 One reason we picked this hotel was that there was a concierge service offered, which we were going to use to get information about the monuments, museums, and restaurants as this was our first time in DC and only there for a week We walked down to the front desk and spoke to the same woman that helped us check-in to inquire about how to get tickets to the United States Holocaust Museum (tickets were almost impossible to get/booked in advance) and we thought maybe the hotel had a select number reserved She told us that the concierge service is unavailable/suspended and that she would talk to her manager and call us to let us know what they could do She took my last name and our room number and we went up to our roomwe never did receive a phone call, and at that point, it was already too late and we headed to bed 4 Our bed was completely missing a fitted sheet on the bed and we essentially slept on top of the bare mattress The bed only had the top sheet and the comforter, and we can see the mattress pad that was on top of the actual mattress (which also was very very dirty), and that upset us a lot as we just have traveled all day, had things to do once we got check-in, and then we’re about to lay down for bed 5 The bathroom was amazing, the separate tub and shower are what sold us to getting the Luxury Corner King room, but, there was an issue with our shower The walk-in shower was missing the rubber sealant on the bottom of the door, so whenever you took a shower, the water got all over the floor and basically flooded the bathroom 6 We ordered in-room dining breakfast both days honestly, it was not good Eggs were overcooked, protein was undercooked/raw, and some of the items were completely soggy Overall, the stay was not great/OK I really expected a better experience, as I was highly recommended this hotel by others Our stay failed to live up to the “5-star” rating and the “one-of-a-kind-stay” from their website It’s upsetting how much we paid for a room yet we did not receive the experience and service that should have come with it

Super friendly staff and great location Room was very clean and tidy Valet staff was fast and very helpful

Love that it was pet friendly My only negative comment is that the shower and sink would do this weird random thing where it would shut off mid use for about 20seconds Fortunately the water would come back on nice and hot again but it was strange My overall experience was still 5 stars and I would definitely stay here again

Definitely it is not a 5 star hotel as some mention I would give 4 starWhat I didn’t like:No concierge or help for visitors

Even a cheap city map they didn’t have, had to go to another hotel and beg for one Restaurant reservations they Google, they are not able to make a call so it is faster to do it ourselvesCompulsory 30usd tax including telephone calls, higher speed internet that most of times doesn’t work, 2 X 0,50 cents water bottles, coffee and tea at the lobby, package handling (it was useful for me, but any other hotel do that for free, except Loews or Hilton), and other things most guests don’t useNo views (luxury and higher have views to a building other side of the street, superior room has a view to a wall and back of another very close building, standard room probably hasn’t a window),Bathroom toiletries are different brands each so shower will make you smell like a fruit salad,They probably don’t use a softener when washing towels (or softener is not working),All glasses are the cheapest roadside hotel plastic or paper cups Maybe they are still very worried about covid but not about convenience or confort If using plastic glasses is obligatory they could use nice cups as this is supposed to be an elegant hotel, but the cup is the same we find in 1 or 2 star hotels, or hospitalsMinibar doesn’t cool down Probably it only freezes when we request it to be filled but I had some beverages I wanted to cool for my city walk and couldn’t do thatWhen I flushed toilet during the night I believe I woke up the entire floor It makes an incredible noise for some couple of secondsWhat I liked:Reception staff is very friendly,Location is very nice, not far from anywhere and next door to the White House and less than 20 minutes to the museumsBlackout curtains in the room really workShower is good, pillows and bed are comfortable, air conditioning worksCleanliness and cleaning service Very goodRoom size is perfectValet staff is friendly and prompt (don’t forget it costs 60usd per day)

We had a lovely time staying at the Melrose in Washington Could not recommend this hotel more highly Beautiful, clean rooms with very comfortable beds, housekeeping service daily with new towels, quality soaps and very quiet

The entire hotel is gorgeous- felt like a luxury hotel, but for an affordable price And it’s located in a perfect area of Washington, a walk away from the big monuments, but not in a loud, touristy neighbourhood The restaurant is open for breakfast, and the Brioche French Toast is delicious! Sofiane is an amazing server- very professional, attentive and made us feel so welcomed He is amazing at his job the Melrose is lucky to have him Julio is very kind and friendly There is also a bar open at night which is fun to visit after a long day walking around the sites of DC! Overall a wonderful stay at the Melrose, and we will definitely return here when we’re in Washington again!

The hotel staff were very helpful and polite throughout our whole stay (5 days, 4 nights) The room we got was nice and clean and had a nice view of the area There were some nice places to eat within walkable distance and it is in close proximity to public transport for places further away

The area is pretty safe – we felt perfectly fine walking around during very late hours on our first night in DCThere’s a Whole Foods nearby in case you need to grab something random during your stay and a coffee shop right next door if you need to start your day with some caffeine We walked the 4 blocks to the subway each morning on our way to the more touristy destinations of our itinerary in the National Mall

Kylie Kirk

Had a lovely stay at this hotel – a glorious king bed in a spacious room with great linens The hotel feels very upscale, loved the morning coffee station as well as the fruit water hydration area The cherry on the top was fantastic service from Myra at the front desk, who we had a delightful conversation with and made us feel welcome

Would stay again!

Overall it is the same as any other Fairfield so if you like them, you will like this one It is close to the highway and in a business area so if you have business in the area it is very convenient Simple breakfast conveniently served

Pool on site Rooms are clean and spacious Beds are fantastic Place looks very new so everything is in good shape and clean Recommended

Mary Jane Lavin

Greeted warmly Room including bathroom was very clean, no odors, comfortable bed Very quiet in the area of my room

Breakfast room was clean, a good selection of food, coffee was good, hot and plentiful Parking is free Note: the parking lot is shared with a restaurant on the property The lot was crowded when I arrived but I found a space close to the front entrance

Standard sized rooms, very clean, shower has excellent water pressure Business center has free printing, and they offer continental breakfast This location is walking distance to several chain restaurants, it is also a 5-10 minute drive away from various pharmacies, a Walmart, and other big box stores

I knocked off one star because rooms do not contain a safe, which is very unusual for a hotel

If I can give this hotel a -100 stars I would I traveled with my family with kids and an elderly woman I booked my rooms online, when I arrived to check in i was greeted by a young man who before greeting me properly, informed me that we would have an issue

Apparently they overbooked and could not honor my PAID reservation The man was rude and nasty and continued to inform me that they could not refund me and it was not his problem At no point did this rude nasty individual even apologize for the error on their hotels part I will never again stay or even look at another extended stay america Horrible customer service and treatment!

Joseph Gordon

My family, consisting of children, adults and an elderly woman, came from out of state and were treated horribly upon arrival We approached the front desk to ask for our room that we had booked over a WEEK ago, and the young man told us they had sold our rooms already After telling us this he proceeded to tell us it was not his problem and that we needed to fix it ourselves

Then he had the nerve to get upset as if HE was the one being unconvinced We asked for hotel management and they were no where to be found and the young man expressed HOTEL MANAGEMENT would say the same thing Terrible experience! Terrible service! 0/100 I do NOT recommend PS There was a smell of urine in the lobby

This place is tucked away in a great location The staff were very friendly and accommodating I can’t express how much nice of a place this hotel is

BUT, we either had bad luck or they were that badWe were given our room and we drive to our area and it was poorly lit We get to our room and it’s very hot The AC unit was broken and obviously needed maintenance as the cover wasn’t on I called down and we were quickly updated to a nicer room While we were happy about the accommodation, there was really no benefit to us because we just needed a nice room and bed So getting a kitchen was a nice upgrade, however, we didn’t expect the refrigerator to make a loud screeching sound like a mouse was dying every TWO HOURS On the day of checkout, I showed the video to the people at the desk to which they were going to have someone remove the fridge They gave us a free night but it should’ve been freeFlute, maybe I’d try them again but if it’s another bad experience, I’d definitely go next door to the HiltonAnd I still have the video

Sean Wolfe

I was hopeful for this location, but the rooms are old and need maintenance When I got to my room, it was 94 degrees inside with the a/c blasting hot air Went back to the reception desk, they in turn sent maintenance with a receptionist and returned to say the problem has been fixed

I go to room, still 94 degrees in there and the air blowing out of the vents is cool It took hours to cool off like 8 of them No other rooms available either Then it’s either a sauna or an ice box as the thermostat doesn’t regulate the temp, it’s either on or off Then the broken dressers (handles, rails, stains) TV with satellite seriously, who watches satellite or cable anymore? The furniture was so old and worn in you feel every boars and nail there is The bed was worn out to with a valley in it you just can’t avoid never again at this location To be fair, the staff is good and nice, but can only do so much

Jessica Gadson

Not just great customer service but Exceptional Customer Service!!!! Wendy Williams was absolutely amazing like a breath of fresh air after our flight from Atlanta The room was very clean and tidy I was nauseated and Wendy went out of her way to leave me some ginger ale on my door

I wasn’t aware of the extra fee on my card but a simple visit to the front desk cleared that up Great customer service will clear up any negative reviews as we all know people write more negative reviews than positive I don’t go out of my way to write reviews however Wendy’s service speaks volumes! Thank you for exceptional customer service!

Great rooms!!! Clean, minimalist hotel with good environment, restaurant was 10/10, food 10/10, parking 5/10 you have to walk to get to your car I just wanted to say ALEX should be a MANAGER here

He was so kind and knowledgeable of everything The only one We think he should run the whole receptionWhen we got here after a long drive we had to wait 30 minutes to get it out room because someone mix our names and gave our room to someone else which is understandable but unacceptable, that’s why my 4 stars

The overall service at the property exceeded my expectations Eric, is an asset to this property and understands what it takes to leave a lasting impression on a guest Eric paid attention to detail and anticipated my needs by providing extra blankets, pillows, and a roll away bed in the suite prior to my arrival

I arrived with 4 exhausted teenage boys who traveled and competed in a basketball championship Check In was fast and there was no wait to be checked in Everything was prepared for us when we arrived, the room was large and clean, the roll Away bed was turned down and prepared for our late arrival the beds were both comfortable The property was spotless, Inside and out with plenty of parking the area felt very safe, and secure The buffet style Breakfast was great, offering healthy and quick options for families on the go, or a chef to prepare the breakfast of your choice, which is complimentary Eric went out of his way multiple times to ensure We had a perfect stay and he is a great example of what exceptional hospitality looks like

Belinda Tribble

Great stay for business trip Loved the idea of having drink tickets This was a big plus with my group

Nice way to come to our home away from home after a long day of working Eric’s big smile and sweet welcome back was nice as well We will be back in a few weeks and looking forward to another good nights sleep in the comfortable bed Also, room temp was kept nice and cold :} thank you, see ya soon > Tribble

The first Embassy Suites I’ve visited that wasn’t actually a suite It was a single, medium size, room It had a large TV and entertainment center that the used to slightly partition it, but still a single room

Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean and well stocked The drink tickets were great Parking was not free, but when my uber dropped me off, the arms were up And it looked like an ample size parking lot I didn’t eat breakfast, but based on other reviews it’s tasty

I stayed here for just one night on a business trip and had a lovely experience Beautiful room and location In the heart of the city close to many food options

Staff were friendly, warm, and welcoming I cannot comment on pricing as my room was paid for but it was an excellent stay Loved my room and felt so relaxed! Would love to come back! Special thank you to Femi, a receptionist who was very accommodating at check in and check out

Takia Brown

The hotel lobby was clean, the staff were nice, and the location was good Not super impressed for the price No amenities really

I had to request a fridge in my room so to accommodate that they put me in a handicap room I’m six feet tall and everything was super low so it wasn’t ideal The heated floors in the bathroom didn’t work The valet took a little too long so I tried not to use my car The gym and the rooms are pretty small I don’t think this is a desirable hotel but it’s nice

summer hiltpold`

Hotel was great and staff was friendly John was quick to greet us for the valet We left for dinner and came back to a tidy room

We stopped into the bar (the Doyle) stayed for one drink, service was very slow but they were busy and we were content and atmosphere was nice Drink was excellent Hotel claimed to have 24hr room service We called a little before midnight for a bottle of Prosecco (listed on their room service menu) only to be told they don’t do that and to call the Doyle (their bar that was closing in 2 minutes, didn’t get through) Overall fine experience but disappointed in advertised room service When paying for amenities, I like to get what I paid for

Room was amazing Super comfortable, the desk was great and the television was above top great with the additional appsThe entire property (inside and out) was kept very cleanDropped a star for the price of bar items, seemed a bit expensive Even with the $15/day credit, everything in the restaurant is expensive The food was goodNot any fault of the hotel, but there are limited eateries within walking distance

Last minute booking for memorial weekend, decent prices Room was fantastic, staff was helpful too! We got an upgrade to the 9th floor for 20$ extra per day and I’m so glad that we took it The bed was comfortable, the shower was so good, definitely felt the luxury there!Additionally, coffee downstairs was excellent and the bar was happening

There was a happy hour between 5-6 PM when we spent a lot of time in the lobby chit chatting and sipping 5$🍻

We spent two nights at this Residence Inn and would definitely stay there again It’s located very conveniently to the Rosslyn Metro station as well as a Target store and Starbucks (if the need arises) As some of the other reviews mentioned, the hotel is showing its age in many cases

Chipped paint on the doors, the metal trim was peeling from the light fixture, and some other assorted things However, the room was clean and was ready for us even with an early arrival The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent Again, I would not hesitate to stay at this location again

Stayed for 2 weeks due to work Decent RI Older building could use an update soon

TVs are probably from 12 years ago and the streaming services struggled to keep up if they played at all Thankfully there was a hard wired connection I could connect my computer to and watch moviesParking garage underneath, $25 a dayStaff were greatWalkable to some restaurants but mainly business type sandwich and taco shopsStandard breakfast each morning

Hotel was great The breakfast was dynamite Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful

Good location My only issue was that some of the guests were being too comfortable I noticed several times various guests walking around the lobby and restaurant without shoes or even barefooted One lady was walking around the main lobby with only a robe What happened to “No shoes, No shirt, No service”

Staying in a hotel with young children can be tough, but we found Embassy Suites to be perfect for us The rooms have tables large enough to eat on and (obviously in the hotel chain’s name) have a living space that closes off from the bedroomThe pool/hot tub area was great (but slippery – be careful!) And included continental breakfast + happy hour make for an easy day while exploring DC

Already plan on returning next year

Honestly, this hotel turned out to be everything I expected, except for one MAJOR caveat Service was fine, except room service did walk in on us with barely any warning Here is the most concerning part

I enter the hotel with no bug bites, and then I wake up with FIVE! The fact that this hotel can’t even keep bed bugs out of their sheets will discourage me from ever staying here again The rest of the room wasn’t all too clean either We found a forgotten pacifier in the bedroom area, and the bathroom floors and counters were all sticky If you want to have confidence in your room’s cleanliness, DON’T go to this hotel Spend your money elsewhere

I’ve lodged here multiple times over the past 7 months and have had good experiences The facility is neat and centrally located Food and shopping are within walking distance

What makes them stand out is their customer service— especially from Andrew! You can find Andrew cleaning and maintaining the lobby area He is always so helpful and will greet you and offer assistance willingly He, along with the other staff, are kind! One of the other staff members even assisted my husband in surprising me with flowers for our anniversary!

I enjoyed my experience at this hotelThe location itself is what sold me

I was looking for staycation to just enjoy myself and this was perfect! The hotel is surrounded by shops and good eats all in walking distance There is also a restaurant inside of the hotelThe space was clean and modern and aesthetically pleasing to the eye The staff was also kind and helpfulI would recommend!

The only reason for the 4 star is parking and no attendant to watch my bags while I went around the corner to the garage It is not attached to the hotel and my bags were not light! Having said that, I loved the room and the location Pike & Rose has lots of restaurants and shops, and the metro is not far

Very reasonably priced My view was “Bark Social,” dog park, so I was entertained every time I opened my drapes! I will stay here again with my luggage on wheels!

Shining Starzz

I’ve stayed in hotels all around the world and this is my favorite Front staff was friendly and sociable Check-in was easy

Free happy hour in the evening High vault ceilings in the rooms, which are well decorated Large full mirror in the rooms and little things like the jewelry box, umbrella, yoga mat, exotic animal print robes and natural soap make a big difference Only disappointment was the view from my window

Had a wonderful stay here for 6 days The room was big and cleanThe staff were friendly throughout the stay

The doormen were very nice always quickly chatting with us and opening the doors for us There was coffee and tea available for free every morning which was a big plus The main advantage to this hotel is how central to the city it is It is only a few minutes walk to the white house and also several great restaurants It is on the same block as a red line train station which made it super easy to get around the city Would highly recommend staying here it you are in Washington DC and want to easily take public transportation to all the landmarks of the city

It’s the last night of my week long stay at the Mayflower Hotel & it is by far the most immaculate, comfortable yet not sterile space loaded with amenities & hospitality driven employees Beautiful, rich feeling, spacious rooms… with great water pressure I upgraded on Friday night & saved $10/night to have a 3 room “suite” so make sure you are getting those weekend savings! Please take care of your bellhops, door men, bartenders, all of the good people with tips large or small proving it’s the appreciation that truly matters and in return they go out of their way to make sure you feel like your a rockstar

Good food, rather small selection at restaurant/bar, but it gets a bit pricey & so does parking

We have stayed here before(2017) and loved it This visit (July ’22) has been a bit different I arrived prior to check in and understand they did not have a room ready for me

I arrived at 1pm, check-in is 4p I was repeatedly told they were cleaning the rooms I get that There was no place to sit in lobby as all the other people waiting for their rooms had taken the seats I waited for over three hours and they never offered to hold my bags so I could go do something while waiting When I FINALLY got my room, after 4pm, I found trash under the couch, toothpaste still in the bathroom sink and a little curly hair in sink as well, and several dark stains on the carpet I understand waiting for them to clean room, but day nab it! It should have actually been clean!!! After the not super friendly but not super snarky attitude of the last afternoon staff, I was not wanting to wait another three hours for a supposedly clean room So I stayed in room i was given Disappointed on this trip in the Mayflower

I stayed four days at the Darcy at Logan Circle The photos on the official website matched my room exactly and I was surprised at how large the standard room with city view was I am extremely happy with my stay

The staff at the front desk are so wonderful, polite and attentive, I felt so special every time I entered Even the door attendants are superb They all had wonderful attitudes The bathroom is a tad small but it’s aesthetically pleasing The bed was very comfortable and clean, I enjoyed my sleep here very much They only issue I had was housekeeping, which is why I only gave 4 stars You must request housekeeping which is fine but they almost never came, even after calling 3 times, and when they did it was late in the evening after I had called again When guest check into a hotel this is their chance to be taken care of and this is where the Darcy fell short I found myself cleaning up, making my own bed, and gathering trash, also calling for fresh towels and soap which weren’t delivered because housekeeping didn’t come This was honestly the only issue Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would like to return in the future because I frequent DC and it is within walking distance of all the attractions I even walked to capital hill one day with no issue and it was so fun The walk score is definitely a 10, as well as the atmosphere and staff They also have complimentary drinks for half and hour on certain days which is such a nice touch The housekeeping service is the only issue The housekeepers are so nice and thorough but it’s simply getting them to come that’s the issue Other than that this hotel would get 5 stars I hope that if return that they have this sorted out!Lastly, definitely order room service, you will not regret it I’m leaving a separate review for Gerrad Street Kitchen, which blew my socks off!

First off, the staff here is wonderful Very friendly staff and they made sure that guests were well taken care of The ambiance of the hotel was lovely

Even the restaurant on site was great The food and the staff were wonderful Giving 4 stars because the bathroom in my room was smaller than I would have liked Overall I would definitely visit again

Meredith Bird

The rooms and bathrooms are quite small, but the front desk was pleasant when we checked in and the decor was nice The walls are very thin, we could hear the guests next to us having a party until about 1am (we stayed up late too so we didn’t bother complaining to the front desk) There was no menu for the restaurant in my room, and no breakdown of the costs involved with ordering room service, so be sure you confirm that before you pay twice the price of the food in fees, taxes, and more fees
