My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfasting May of 2022, and we loved it! The hotel room was beautiful and we woke up to views of the sunny garden and little baby lambs running around Breakfast was spectacular, most of the items on the menu were grown right on the farm The service was really great too, it was the perfect balance of customer care and also letting us explore on our own, and explore we did! We took walks in the morning and in the evening around the property looking at the different plants and animals on the farm

We especially liked getting close to the pigs during mealtime We’re looking forward to our next stay!

This place is amazing! The owners (a mother and daughter) are so nice and accommodating It’s on 80 acres of beautiful farm land The house is historic and so nice

We stayed in the pink room which was my favorite! Breakfast was great The bed was so comfortable A huge tub for a very nice bath! Got a mug as a souvenir They even accommodated my vegan diet and had oat milk for the coffee! Will definitely try to come back!

Darren Collins

We love everything about this B&B! Breakfast is always delicious and filling, the home is beautiful and comfortable, the farm setting is peaceful, and the hosts are warm and welcoming We’ve stayed 7 times over the past 15 years and even though we just returned home from the farm, we are already looking forward to our next stay Ruth and Betsy treat us like family and their B&B is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of regular life

This hotel exemplifies what staying at a Hampton Inn should represent Meticulously clean and comfortable Breakfast staff especially friendly and extremely attentive to details

Location ideally located to see several national parks in area As a last stay after 3 weeks on the road, and staying exclusively at Hampton Inns, our trip is definitely ending on a high note

Donald Williams

Very clean, well maintained property Management team and staff were all professional, knowledgeable and demonstrated true “customer service!”A true hospitality team! A model property for Hilton! Thank you for a great hotel stay experience

I have to say I went for a relaxing day with my family for my daughter’s birthday and everything was absolutely great The staff was friendly the rooms were clean and comfortable they put out fresh warm cookies in the evening and the breakfast choices were delicious They had everything from omelets to make your own waffles cereal and fruit for the kids yogurts muffin and bagel station even to go breakfast bags to grab on the go

But the hot tub wasn’t working and that was a big part of picking that hotel for my daughter’s birthday so I had emailed customer service and they actually responded the very next day and we’re very sincere with their apologies and wanted to make it up by refunding our room so we could take our daughter back to redo her birthday! And we will because everything else at that Hampton inn was super great But knowing that the people working in the customer service department actually really cared about my daughter’s birthday vacation not going exactly as planned and making up for it is not something you get with all businesses and it makes me truly appreciate this company even more I would recommend the Hampton inn in Charlestown to anyone looking for a nice comfortable places with all the right amenities!

My husband and I just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Red Fox Inn to celebrate my birthday Check-in went seamlessly My husband had worked with the Inn to arrange for flowers and champagne to be in the room when we arrived

Throughout the weekend the staff was fantastic, breakfast was delivered at our specified time, the room was so clean! This is a true relaxing place to stay and it is conveniently located in the middle of town Short drive away to different wineries We will definitely be back!

Red Fox Inn & Tavern, the oldest Inn in the country, had an amazing, Five Star dining experience consisting of four courses of the highest quality The service was second to none, top tier Thank you to Tim M

for creating an incredibly inviting atmosphere and excellent recommendations for dinnerPrix-Fixe Four Course Experience: $125 ppI can tell you that I made a couple of upgrades and parings to maximize the full experience and it was well worth every penny! You’ll see below, the lamb meatballs, grilled watermelon salad, wagyu bone-in ribeye, and strawberry/rhubarb shortcake with a cocktail and local Virginian wine, ending with a nice coffee and every single bite and sip was fantastic, prepared to perfection! I will let the pictures speak for themselves but the flavors were rich and complex, offering a delightful experience for the tastebuds My greatest compliments to the chef and team!I will be back!!DSG

We did the 4 course meal which was mostly ok I added the waygu steak and was extremely dissapointed The steak was not as good as a steak you could get at firebirds or other chain restaurant

Everything else was ok but not deserving of the price tag Service was 5 star, and saved the experience

I love Goodstone Inn What’s great is that it’s only an hour deform DC but you’ll feel like your hours away from the bustling city life once you arrive The views are fantastic of the Blue Ridge mountains and surrounding countryside

They’ve got llamas and food in their restaurant is farm-to-table using many ingredients right from the farm Spend a couple days unwinding at this beautiful Inn

olivia clark

The grounds are beautiful, and the restoration of the property is really amazing, however we were not informed at all about the history of the hotel, what there was to do on the property, and what amenities were offered Complimentary breakfast in the morning was the highlight, as well as having dinner one night at the hotel restaurant This is not a 5 star hotel- 3 at most

I really enjoyed my stay here The staff were very kind and accommodating I found some issues with the rooms

Like some bugs and issues with the shower But in a way I thought to myself that this was a historic inn that had historic charm I’d say in some ways there could be some upgrading with certain things but really overall I loved it and will be coming back again The beauty of this place totally beats a few spiders

This hotel is clean and mostly quiet We stayed in room 213 2/18-2/20 The gentleman checking us in allowed us to enter our room before 3pm which was very appreciated because my Daughters back was hurting

The bathrooms are large and water pressure and temp were good There are temp controls in room This was a cold weekend and our room was warm & cozy The breakfast was plentiful and the free coffee was good with flavored creamer options The pool was clean and the jacuzzi open The location was safe and close to many things driving dist There is a mexican rest walking dist I would definitely stay again The only reason I did not offer a 5star is because there was no hotel bar There is plenty of parking

Matthew Mynahan

This is more of a review of Hilton as a company than this locationStayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July, Sunday and MondayMade reservations only for $134

Per night plus all the taxes of course – normal and expectedGot the receipt via email and discovered that that I was charged $134 for Sunday and $153 for MondayI spoke to the manager several days later thinking they made a mistake or some extra charge was added He basically tap danced through our brief conversation, being unsatisfied I called the 800 #, The customer service woman said there were no extra charges added but that’s just what that room costs for the second night and said that each hotel sets their own policy and that’s how the system works based on how full the hotel is on any given night huh???So what I gleaned was the first night is the price advertised but multiple nights can be different based on how “the system” feels and you won’t know how much you’ve paid until you get your receiptThat’s an unfair business practice

We recently booked a one night stay through the app because it was a perfect distance for us to stop, coming from Atlanta and heading to CanadaAfter 10 hour drive, we pulled over to the hotelFrom outside it looked good, I had checked with the app so went straight to our room

To our surprise the room had several stains on the ceiling, with one having an actual water drop on itWe changed rooms then our second room smelled like someone had smoked cigarettes To our third room we go, as soon as we turned on the A/C it reeked like someone had peed in it!!!We were outta there I made sure to let the front desk lady about all these issuesWe ended up at the Homewood suites by Hilton, 2 blocks away

My wife and I stayed two nights in the New Room for a weekend mini-cation and we fell in love with the place The room was charming and the atmosphere was perfect Very clean and temperature controlled

The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings were charming and not typical of an old bed and breakfast, as other reviews have noted as well The private en-suite bathroom was huge, clean, and with a large walk in showerWe had our own covered private balcony overlooking the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where they converge, and a beautiful view of the lower town along Potomac Street A porch swing and two comfortable padded patio chairs and a small table to relax with a bottle of wine, also with folding chairs You won’t get a better view in town from your room anywhere else Location is right smack dab in the lower town and within mere steps of restaurants, pubs, and the historic national park sites Nothing further than a 30 second to 2 minute walkYou won’t find better parking in town and it comes with the room and you park directly behind the building But you probably won’t need your car as everything is so closeChris, the owner, is an awesome dude and fun to talk with, and the breakfasts he prepares are delicious and rival any 5 star hotel chef breakfast We were impressed from top to bottom at this bed and breakfast and highly recommend it to all and will return I can’t think of one negative thing about the Stonehouse Bed and breakfast

Jon DiPietro

The charm is off the charts but there’s one little problem

I stayed here for just one night Almost everything about it was fabulous You can’t ask for a more beautiful, charming location The owner was super-friendly and accommodating Despite the age of the building, the rooms were in great shape and very cleanI’d love to give it a five-star review but there’s one issue beyond their control There’s a railroad that runs about 100 yards from the building with frequent trains full of coal If you’re a light sleeper, that might be a problem It didn’t really bother me because I was dead tired but it’s something people should knowUnfortunately, I had to leave early and didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast so I can’t comment on that If you’re not a light sleeper, I highly recommend it

Karen Richters

Stayed here for one night while headed to DC via bike along the C&O Towpath

The owners accommodated our need for bicycle storage We stayed in the Gray room, which was very spacious and had a super comfy bed We loved having a ceiling fan in the room and our own private bath While we didn’t spend too much time in the common areas, it was nice to have both an indoor and outdoor space with access to games, books, etc Breakfast was delicious! As cyclists, we just wished there was more quantity 😀

Clean and modern feel Staff were very friendly and accommodating of questions and requests Nice lobby area with kiosk PC and printer

Pool was small but clean and well setupRoom was very spacious with kitchenette, sofa and ottoman, king bed LED lighting was bright and not harsh like those awful CFL things most hotels useOnly small negative is that I need an early out and breakfast does not start until 7:00am, but they sent me over to the nearby Hampton Inn that starts serving at 6:00I will be up in the area a bit more often, and will try to stay at this hotel

Vicky Alexander

Our new hotel! It’s so clean, like smells like you just cleaned your house clean, not bleach clean If you’re in Charlestown, don’t even look anywhere else! I can’t say enough good things about this place, super friendly staff We’re here to try out the casino and it’s right there beside it

I stayed there 3/18/22 The only reason I give it 4 stars is because there was hair on the shower wall that was there beforehand I feel we are paying good money, it should have been clean

And the steam shower was still broken in the spa (not as big of a deal though) The restaurant (room service) and the spa totally made up for our unhappiness with the shower not being clean The room service is phenomenal! Super fast service and accurate Nice, hot, and delicious food! Yum! Everything is definitely farm fresh or at least it seems The spa treats you like a queen I was there for my birthday this time, and Christine T gave me the seasonal awakening treatment (winter) She was so amazing and kind She made sure to apply just the right amount of pressure She listened to me and it was very relaxing I really like how she made me feel comfortable as well (I have social anxiety) I’ve been to many spas and she is by far the best massage therapist I have ever encountered I will be going back because of her and the great food!

Second time staying here The first time we were upgraded to an estate room- thought that was so nice This time we brought our dog and are staying in the terrace rooms- hello! These are not a downgrade, they are just as fabulous

I actually prefer the terrace, being able to walk right out onto these gorgeous grounds is fantastic The terrace is so private I love this entire resort Everyone is so friendly This place has great energy, I’m so happy here Having our dog with us makes it feel like home, it’s so awesome that they allow pets We only live ~ 30 minutes from here but it’s such a fun getaway that the whole family looks forward to

This little inn was the perfect refuge from the winter storm we had last night We had left a job site and it was not safe enough to drive an hour+ home We called Little River Inn and Tucker had a place for us to stay, we got great sleep, and had an absolutely lovely breakfast

I don’t even like coffee and I loved his coffee! The donkeys were also so sweet and Tucker gave us carrots to feed them Tucker is a fantastic host and I would gladly stay here again!

John Sly

This is a great place Not only was the Patent House a cute little place, There was also a main house with various amenities Be aware there is no kitchen in the Patent House but the main house which is adjacent has a full kitchen with snacks and other items

The big addition is Tucker He is the owner We had a cooked to order breakfast by him and great conversation He is a worldly guy who loves to chat about all sorts of things He made the visit even that much more special! Highly recommended

Helen Quinn

Sweet and cozy Tucker is a wonderful host Comfortable beds in the Log Cabin

Everything about our stay was awesome The owners and staff were always available and concerned about making sure everything was perfect…and it was The place is lovely, clean and welcoming

The room we stayed in was actually on a lower level which might not be for everyone but was quiet and comfortable for us There are several incredible rooms to choose fromWe had a delicious, all prepared there in the kitchen, breakfast where we joined another group of guests for a fabulous meal If privacy is preferred there was a separate room availableAlthough we were staying just a night, the Inn provides other services including weddings and other celebrations I would not hesitate to use the venue for one of these eventsManisha and her husband and son were absolutely great Obviously I can’t say enough positive things about the place You will not be disappointed

Brian Donley

This was our first trip to Stone Manor, and it won’t be our last We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the inn, and the owners are the nicest and most courteous hosts There is an amazing breakfast in the morning, with classic items such as bacon and waffles or pancakes, as well as scones, potatoes an egg dish, yogurt, etc
